I have a Qidi Tech Q1 Pro 3D printer, purchased in December 2024. With it I have purchased:
- 1 air tight storage box for keeping unused filament dry. The box contains desiccant.
- 4 reels of filaments in different colors to make them easy to differentiate from inside the storage box:
- PLA-CF 75D, black. A carbon fiber infused filament, rigid and durable.
- ASA-Aero 75-50D, white. At maximum foam ratio of 250% it can be become (more than) 50% lighter than regular ASA, at about 95A/50D. Suitable for long-term use in high-temperature outdoor environments.
- PLA Matte Rapido 95A, warm grey. Suitable for general use, in a nice color with a finish suitable for painting.
- TPE 75A, iron blue. Highly flexible, suitable for tires and rubber-like parts. Not tried it yet.
- Creality resealable vacuum bags for storing filaments. I got the pump separately to get one with a USB-C charging slot. Normally though I will rely on the box for storage.
- Packages of desiccant to use in the vacuum bags.
- A double-pocketed pouch for storing the printer tools and spare parts that came with the printer.
- A hygrometer for realtime monitoring of the moisture inside the box, or inside the bags. Figured it would be useful to get an idea of how the desiccants work.
Using the Q1 Pro
Maybe these things are common knowledge, or maybe I missed the information somewhere. But I feel it was nowhere, so sharing it here.
Remove Filament
Correct me if I do this wrong, but I currently do the following:
- Press the Home button to have the hotend move to the center of the build plate before I start the on-screen replace or load procedure. Ideally, I think it should be over by the waste collector—but that seem to require a more invasive configuration change.
- When removing a filament to store or replace it—follow the on-screen steps. To release the filament guide tube from the hotend, press down on the push-fit connector.
More to come, I’m sure, as I discover and learn.
